Individual Counselling

Space for you, on your own — to talk openly, understand yourself more clearly and find a steadier way through what you're facing.

What you might bring

You don't need a particular reason, or the right words, to start counselling. People come to talk about:

  • Stress and feeling overwhelmed
  • Anxiety and worry
  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Grief and loss
  • Difficult or painful past experiences, including trauma
  • Adverse childhood experiences
  • Repeating patterns in relationships
  • Difficult life changes and transitions
  • Confidence and self-understanding

How counselling can help

Counselling offers regular, protected time to think and feel without being judged or hurried. Over time, it can help you understand where difficult feelings come from, notice the patterns that keep you stuck and find ways of responding to yourself with more kindness.

Counselling isn't about being told what to do or being "fixed". It's a collaborative process, and what you take from it is shaped by you.

How sessions work

Sessions last 50 minutes, in person or online.

  1. Free consultation

Up to 30 minutes to talk about what brings you to counselling and ask any questions.

  2. First sessions

Getting to know you, your circumstances and what you'd like from counselling.

  3. Regular sessions

Regular sessions give continuity and space to go at your own pace.

  4. Reviews and endings

You'll review how things are going regularly, and plan the ending of counselling together.

Maria's approach

Maria is warm, attentive and steady. She'll listen carefully to your experience, ask questions to help you reflect, and work with you rather than on you.

You can speak in English, Greek or a mix of both — whichever helps you say what you mean.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

If something is weighing on you and you'd like space to talk about it, counselling may help. The free consultation is a good way to find out without committing.

What if I don't know what to say?

That's completely normal. Maria will help you get started, and there's no right or wrong way to use your sessions.

How long will I need counselling for?

It depends on you and what you bring. Some people come for a few sessions, others for longer. You'll review this together regularly.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, with a small number of legal and safeguarding exceptions that Maria will explain before you begin.

What if I'm in crisis?

Counselling isn't an emergency service. If you're in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent support you can call NHS 111, or Samaritans free on 116 123, day or night.

Not sure where to begin?

A free initial consultation gives you an opportunity to talk briefly about what brings you to therapy, ask questions and consider whether working together feels right.
